So it has been a while. Our trip to Utah was great. Thomas was in heaven roaming the backyard for hours and I loved all my runs and shopping with the girls. I didn’t take my camera, but Dad was on the job. Hopefully he will be posting some of the photos he took. I know he just sent me some via email, but they weren’t in the right format to post here.
Anyway, I’m glad to be home with Ben and back at my work bench. Business is good and getting better all the time. Here are some things I have made and listed since I have been home:

Ben left for a quick overnight business trip to San Francisco tonight. He will be home in time for dinner tommorrow. I am going to go with Jenny and Rachael Tollestrup tomorrow for a girl’s shopping day. I am really looking forward to it.
Not much else is new. What about you?

We hit the showers early so we could get down to the park for the ward breakfast. They had sausage and eggs, and pancakes that were surprisingly good! After the breakfast, the kids all played on the merry-go-round. I don’t know who liked it more, Kelton or Dustin.
After the breakfast, we hurried home to pack up the cooler for the parade. I think I made a gazillion sandwiches. I didn’t want anyone to be hungy, parade food is expensive… and fattening.
The Mini marathon started late. It was so hot! I didn’t win any of the ribbons,(there wasn’t a “Cutest toe nails” or “Most metal in your chest” Ribbon) but I made it! Maybe next year I will be faster!
The Parade was mostly Mexicans in their spiffed-up, jacked-up, jump around on the road cars. There were a few horses, a float with lamas, and one float with emu’s. Not one marching band.
The tiny city of Monmouth has put in a new 10 screen theater, so to escape the heat, we went and saw Evan Almighty. We all really enjoyed it.
We came home and grilled hamburgers and hot dogs (not nearly as glamorous as Aprils shrimp on the beach). Then we loaded up to head over to the fireworks.
All in all, it was a really fun day.
PS April I have more pix that I can’t get onto this post??? Maybe my PC is just too slow!

Well we missed the bike parade and ward breakfast because our landscaper showed up at 8 a.m. to meet the truck from the nursery to unload all of our plants. What a fiasco.
We took Thomas to see Ratatouille in the afternoon, but he had a major case of the wiggles and made it almost impossible to watch the show. What a fiasco.
We then came home and got ready to go to the beach where we barbecued shrimp and corn. We had frog eye salad and spicy chips and I made cupcakes for the kids. We met about 5 other families there. We had twenty kids under 12. What a fiasco.
At 9 p.m. we laid on the sand and watched the fireworks and ate candy. One of the dads in our group played corny patriotic music on his little stereo. We then proceeded to fight the crowds and the traffic for half an hour to get home, sandy and dead tired. What a fiasco.
So how was our 4th of July? Great! Really, it was great. The 4th, it seems, is all about, screaming kids, too much sugar, crowds and sunburns. And we love it all. At the end of the day, Thomas had a great time and this may be the first memory he has of the 4th of July.

Heidi, I didn’t get the pictures of Rachael & Kelton at Silver Falls. I will send pics of the 4th of July here. It has been 100 degrees here, but I love it. Ryan…I hope your birthday was enjoyable, but if not (he’s at the reunion), I’m sure you’ll have fun on the 4th. Ryan told me the other day that the 4th of July was like Christmas for him or even better. April, I am now craving homemade grape icecream. Have a great Independance Day. Love ya all-Amy

What can I say? Today I miss Grandma so bad the lump in my throat feels like a golf ball. I am still able, however, to consume large amounts of high calorie food with out any trouble. I was going through my recipe box yesterday looking for my frog eye salad recipe and I came across Grandma’s handwritten recipe for Grape Sherbet. It is a little cryptic and I am hoping together we can figure it out.
Grape Sherbert
4 lrg cans frozen Welch’s grape juice
4 lemons
5 C whipping cream
2 1/2 C sugar
Fill freezer to 1/3 full
Makes 6 qts.
Do I just use the juice concentrate? Is it just the juice of the lemons? Heavy whipping cream? Anyone?
Well happy Independence Day! Especially you Ryan. I hope it is as good as previous years even with out Grandma and the cherry pit spit.
P.S. I actually did this post a day early because I knew I wouldn’t have time tomorrow.

Okay, so after serching through all my pix, I found several of Kelton and Rach. Most of them had Kelton pulling the “she’s touching me” face, and Rachael with her “ha ha he has to be nice to me for 2 seconds” face! But, here is a pretty good one of them when we hiked Silver Falls on Memorial Day. Kelton is now sporting a shorter hair-do, and Rach has once again gotten a poisen oak rash on her face.
Thank you April for telling us how to get a picture on your post, I almost threw my PC out the window trying to figure it out the other day!
Happy Birthday Ryan & Happy 4th of July to you all!
Love, Heidi °Ü°
I spoke to soon, I can’t get the picture on this post, but you can view it down on the uploads.

So here we have a picture from Heidi, of just Dustin of course, surprise, surprise. Great job on the waterfall! We have our preliminary report from the family reunion from Amy. I think Ryan will be able to give us a more comprehensive run down of all the goings on. I’m eager to know if Adam told Uncle Eddy to “shut the damn hell up” again. I am also excited to see everyone’s 4th of July photos.

This is what we looked like last summer. While Amy and Heidi are thinner, I’m fatter.

Yes, I know you are going to ask “where is that?” Oak City is about 40 miles west of Nephi. Nephi is about 2 hours south of Ogden. This is in the middle of basically nowhere.
You’ve got the Nielson fam there with all their brand new humangus trucks, trailers, RV’s, 4-wheelers, and of course their guns. A conversation at the Samson family reunion cannot go without talking about “killin stuff.”
The Campbell’s were a part of that select few still camping by tent. Kids everywhere dirty and happy as can be, the gals sitting, chatting, or preparing a meal. And the men shooting, riding 4-wheelers, etc. I’m not much of a camper person, so I am biased, but I think for those who enjoy camping…they were having a good time.
Between the original Samsons, their spouses, their children, their children’s spouse, their children’s children, and the dogs and horses…their were close to 80 body’s there. Think about how the outhouses smelled.
