Today, Thomas gets to bring the treat to school. We thought it would be fun to take the witch cupcakes.

Spiderman will hit the streets to trick-or-treat around 6:30 or so.

We had all our friends over for FHE on Monday. I made Grandma C’s doughnuts. They were a big hit.

Evan Record thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

Happy Halloween!!!!!!

OUR FRONT STEPS

I started to try to clean the soot up in the yard, but I gave up after about an hour.  We have a power washer and we will have to get it out on Saturday.  Thomas’s pre-school is closed until Monday. Most stores, however, are open again and life is getting back to normal.

My poor roses!

A few weeks ago, we went up to the Body World exhibit at OMSI in Portland.  We ended up getting a yearly pass so we could get the price break.  It is one of the coolest places we’ve taken our kids.  I am glad we have the pass now, you could easily spend hours in some of the rooms.  This picture was taken in a room where they had all sorts of energy experiments.  Rachael was trying this one about electricity.  She really drew a crowd!

As of 11 a.m. today, we are still on voluntary evacuation.  We tried to go to Ben’s parents yesterday, but we couldn’t get there. After three hours in the car with the dog, cat and boy, we came home. The car is still packed and ready to go if we get a mandatory evacuation call. Soot has blanketed everything outside.  Clean-up is going to be a big job.

More than anything, we are going stir crazy here at home. We have played all of Thom’s board games, made blanket huts and snacked a lot.  On the bright side, our house is totally clean and the wash is all done. You can sure get a lot done when you can’t leave the house.

For FHE we played a game that Natalie made up.  We took pictures in the house and then tried to guess what they were of.  Can you guess where in our house these were taken?  Mom, Dad, Natalie and Ryan

The Foulger’s Halloween Party was a blast. We were assigned to bring caramel apples. Ben decided we should also make spicy cinnamon candy apples. They turned out great.

The Defenders of Justice

Thomas was very bummed that it was a “Mommies and Daddies” only party.   He wore his signature suit over to the Hurst’s anyway, and Yaya (Andre’s mom) cheered him up with junk food and cake.  The Foulger’s Halloween party is one I never want to miss. The food is fantastic and every year Tammy creates an amazing treasure hunt with clues all around Carlsbad.  This year our team won. We ended up at La Costa Greens park where we dug the treasure out of the sand. We each got a gift certificate to Cold Stone.   This week we are looking forward to visiting the pumpkin patch, trunk-or-treat and the primary program.  Thomas loves Halloween and his excitement is contagious.

April, I finally figured out the thumbnail thing.  And my pictures downloaded so much faster after cropping in picasa.  I’m not too excited for this weekend.  Sunday night will finally feel like my weekend.

Anyone got any good stories, quotes, or thoughts about Choice & Accountability that I could use in my talk for Sunday??

It finally feels like fall! Ben and I are looking forward to a Halloween party this weekend. Our good friends the Foulger’s host this party each year and it is a big deal. Ben is going as Magnum P.I. and I got a Princess Leah costume. I am sure we will have some good photos to post on Sunday. I am going to make Grandma C.’s doughnuts and serve them up on Monday the 29th for a fun Halloween Family night with friends. Thomas has his first part in the primary program the same weekend as trunk-or-treat. There are a lot of really fun things we are looking forward to.  Once Halloween is over, the rest of the year flies by really fast. I think Amy has it right with the Christmas names. I think I will start shopping right away. I really wish we were all going to be in Ogden for Christmas!  We need to take another family photo.
